Rhode Island Restaurants

by Joshua Unseth on December 27, 2009

Having gone to school in Rhode Island, I have a pretty good idea of where the best Rhode Island restaurants are. A nifty little site (that I have helped put together) has popped up, and lists some of the best Rhode Island restaurants in the state.

I don’t do much on local search on this site because I don’t do much with local search myself. But this site is aptly built for local search as it’s contents are so relevant to such a specific population. That said, I decided to put a little map together highlighting all the Rhode Island restaurants that are featured on the site.

That’s right, you can make searchable maps on Google. It’s a simple, awesome way to enhance your site’s offerings. In this case, the map offers users who visit the site the chance to visualize what they are searching. For example, say they look at all Providence Restaurants.

If you find one you like, you can then visualize what other restaurants are nearby and what types of restaurants they are. There are plenty of other uses for this. Google maps are highly customizable.

To make these searchable maps, login to your google account (and if you don’t have one, get one) go to maps.google.com, click on “My Maps” and select “Create New Map”. Then, proceed to add interesting locations. Simple as that.
